Hit and Run Accidents
The driver in this incident did not stop at the scene, so the police conducted an investigation and search. Descriptions of the vehicle were broadcasted and the vehicle reportedly had front end damage and lost a headlight at the scene. The driver turned himself in to the police a few days later.

This is the fourth recent hit and run incident in Chula Vista. There are a number of reasons why a driver may choose not to stop at the scene. The driver may not have valid insurance, driver’s license or may already be wanted on a warrant. The driver could have been driving while intoxicated or distracted by the use of a handheld device. Regardless of the reason, the driver will likely face a number of serious charges for leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

Pedestrian Accidents on the Rise
The number of pedestrians involved in accidents has been rising across the country over the last several years. This might be due to various factors that contribute to these types of accidents. One of the most common factors in pedestrian accidents is distracted driving. Texting while behind the wheel is the most frequent reason for distracted driving. Texting while driving is illegal, but many drivers continue to do it.

There are three main factors that contribute to distracted driving. The driver may lose visual contact with the road, lose physical control of the vehicle, or lose focus on driving. Texting causes a driver to lose all three areas of control and therefore is one of the most dangerous types of distracted driving. In the case mentioned above, we do not yet know wat caused the driver to hit the pedestrian.

Legal Help After a Hit and Run Accident

But first, seek medical attention, even if you do not believe you are seriously injured it is important to have a medical professional check for internal issues. The police will attempt to locate the driver who hit you, and often times are successful with this key task. Once the driver is located you must seek legal action for the compensation you are entitled to.
