Workplace accidents can cause serious injuries and fatalities. Construction accidents are all too common and may occur for a number of reasons. A serious construction accident happened at Steele Canyon High School recently. The incident occurred when a crane that was operated by a worker toppled over onto a truck causing damages and injuring the crane operator. Luckily, no other injuries were reported.

The crane was supporting a drilling machine, which was being used to make large holes for post installation in the parking lot. The poles were to be the support system for a roof that will include the installation of solar panels. After the crane struck the work truck parked nearby, medics were called. A spokesman for the fire department stated that the victim was being evaluated for possible head and neck injuries.

Construction Accidents
Construction accidents may occur for a number of reasons. Equipment may malfunction or the operator may not be properly trained. Machinery should be inspected and serviced on a regular basis to ensure that it is operating properly. A supervisor should oversee operations while heavy equipment is in use. In this case we do not yet know what caused the crane to fall.

Companies are required to provide proper training and supervision to their workers. If they fail to do so and an accident occurs, they might be held responsible. A company could be negligent if they do not properly train their employees, do not adequately maintain their equipment or do not have safety procedures in place. Employees must know how to handle emergency situations and follow safety instructions and guidelines from the company. A supervisor must ensure that the proper procedures are followed at all times.

Construction Injuries
Injuries may occur in any workplace, but they are commonplace at construction sites. Construction site injuries can be quite serious and even fatal. Falls are some of the most common types of injuries that occur in the workplace. Falls may result in back and neck injuries as well as broken bones and head trauma. Falling objects are another cause of injuries. Objects that fall from above can strike a victim on the head or body and cause serious harm.

Other injuries may include lacerations, contusions and fractures. Sometimes injuries occur to workers while other times they can occur to people walking by the construction site. These types of injuries can be avoided if the proper safety procedures are followed. The safety of workers and others must be a major concern of construction companies and their management teams. If an accident with injuries occurs, it could be due to the company’s negligent actions. The victim could be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and any other damages that were incurred because of the accident.
